Shipping Your Peafowl

USPO link to find the cost of Shipping your Birds

When I know that I am going to ship some peafowl, I like to give them some electrolyte before shipping. Here are just a few things to do to prepare for the shipping of your peafowl.

1. Fist step is to contact your local Post Office to make sure that they can ship your bird from their location. If you local post office can not ship you birds they will be able to give you a list of Post Office that can. Make sure that you tell them that you are shipping live birds. You will also need to have the zip code and address of the shipping location that you are shipping to. This way you can get a time frame it will take to ship your birds to the desire location. For example if you are shipping to my location it will take two days before, I will receive my birds. Where other will take only one day. Please note that the post office will have a dead line for you to get the birds to the post office, be sure to contact your local post office for the time of their deadline.

2. The next important thing to do is to insert some type of bedding material in your shipping create for your peafowl.

3. If you are shipping a male that has a long tail you can wrap the tail with a burlap bag and use tie wraps to secure the tail. I have heard of newspaper and other type of materials used to wrap the tail. This will help to secure the tail and hopeful prevent breakage of the tail.

4. I fell like the next important step is not to get the bird to excite and hot especially down here is South Texas where it is so hot. So If I am shipping a male or female I will make all my preparation in the morning and place them in the shipping container. Be sure to keep them in a cool place until you can take them to the post office for shipping.

5. The next important thing to do is get the receive date that your birds will arrive at their finial destination. Then call or E-mail the purchaser so he or she can make preparation to receive their birds.

Once again there are several different ways to ship birds if you would like to share some of your information with us please E-mail me with your information. I will be more then happy to put on this web site.
